Strategic

People who are especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

By nature, you occasionally marvel at your ability to vividly express your thoughts and feelings. Instinctively, you may be a self-reliant person who needs time alone to think or work. You periodically generate innovative ideas and propose systematic programs of action. Perhaps you can identify certain recurring configurations in the behavior of people, the functioning of processes, or the emergence of potential problems. Driven by your talents, you are innovative, inventive, original, and resourceful. Your mind allows you to venture beyond the commonplace, the familiar, or the obvious. You entertain ideas about the best ways to reach a goal, increase productivity, or solve a problem. First, you think of alternatives. Then you choose the best option. It’s very likely that you customarily pinpoint the core problems and identify the best solutions. You artfully and skillfully eliminate distractions. This helps people gain a clear understanding of what is happening and why it is happening. You frequently identify ways to transform an obstacle into an opportunity. Because of your strengths, you may have a tendency to produce original ideas. Perhaps your imagination is stimulated when you collaborate -- that is, team -- with future-oriented thinkers.

Intellection

People who are especially talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

Instinctively, you occasionally enjoy the company of certain forward-looking individuals. They may think about what the world will be like in the coming years, decades, or centuries. Perhaps you read as much as you can about these people. Maybe you have even studied in detail a few of the books or articles they have authored. It’s very likely that you sometimes delight in having your very own tasks to perform. Perhaps you like to solo because it gives you quiet time to reflect on what you think or feel. Maybe you consider what you have done, are doing, or can do better. By nature, you may be selective about the types of books or publications you read. They might contain information or tips that you can share with individuals you are training. Perhaps imparting knowledge, talking about your experiences, or passing along your skills gives you a certain degree of satisfaction. Because of your strengths, you acquire certain kinds of information to expand your knowledge base. Perhaps you accumulate facts from books, publications, or Internet sites. Maybe reading is one of the ways in which you attempt to position yourself for professional or academic advancement. Chances are good that you enjoy the act of reading now and then. You might value bits of information you acquire in the process. As a person who sometimes enjoys reasoning, you might be drawn to the facts and logic contained in nonfiction material or mystery novels. Perhaps you revel in gathering data and evidence to arrive at a sensible conclusion before it is presented by the author.

Competition

People who are especially talented in the Competition theme measure their progress against the performance of others. They strive to win first place and revel in contests.

It’s very likely that you sometimes discover that contending for a real or even imaginary first-place victory makes your job or your scholarly pursuits a bit more exhilarating. Driven by your talents, you are motivated to prove yourself to yourself -- rather than to others -- by being more successful or productive than you have ever been in the past. You seek to resolve any doubts you have about your ability to reach your goal. You examine numerous assumptions -- that is, anything taken to be true without proof -- rather than automatically accept them. When perplexed, you investigate the situation. Why? You probably have set high expectations for yourself. Chances are good that you may have identified your strengths. You might know the things you do well. Perhaps you waste little time mulling over your limitations, shortcomings, or failures. Sometimes your strengths allow you to capture first-place honors. You might refuse to concentrate much energy on areas where you must struggle just to be average. "What's the point?" you might ask yourself. Instinctively, you might prefer to enroll in a difficult class rather than register for the easiest one. Perhaps comparing how well you are doing in relation to others has meaning only when you earn the best grades in the hardest courses. To some extent, you crave recognition for your knowledge and winning spirit. Because of your strengths, you might concentrate a bit harder on your work or studies when a deadline looms over you. Knowing that the clock is ticking may force you to ignore fascinating distractions. To some extent, time restrictions help you think of capturing the top prize. Perhaps your need to be the first person to finish increases during the final week, day, hour, or minutes of projects and contests.

Relator

People who are especially talented in the Relator theme enjoy close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.

It’s very likely that you sometimes describe reading as a pleasure, not a chore. You might acquire special insights or other knowledge, whether you prefer fiction or nonfiction. Maybe you pull together ideas from printed materials or Internet sites. You might be able to talk about complicated topics or situations by highlighting only the basic points. Some people can grasp what you are saying the first time. Why? You refrain from burdening them with every detail you know. Chances are good that you feel most fulfilled when you are busy and simply performing routine tasks. When you have nothing to do, typically you find something to do. Sitting around and wasting time does not suit you at all. Instinctively, you may realize that each individual's interests, background, motivations, desires, fears, and work style are different. Perhaps you strive to honor everyone's unique qualities and preferences. Understanding the ambitions of particular people might give you insights into the type of support, training, experiences, partnerships, or nurturing each person needs to thrive. Because of your strengths, you occasionally dedicate time to reading, listening, or scrutinizing facts as well as ideas. Consequently, some people seek your counsel. Why? They might recognize your talent and/or knowledge. Maybe you are a valuable source of information for your family, friends, colleagues, coworkers, or classmates. Driven by your talents, you might be well-read in particular subjects. Some people whom you have befriended may turn to you for guidance. By referring to something you have read, occasionally you can help a person see a specific situation or a particular problem from a different perspective. For you, reading might be a key that opens the door to a world of fresh ideas. Maybe you collect them, never knowing whether something you read will benefit someone else.

Command

People who are especially talented in the Command theme have presence. They can take control of a situation and make decisions.

Driven by your talents, you may encourage people by accepting them just as they are. Maybe you thrive in environments where you are surrounded by people from different cultures or backgrounds. Sometimes you actively seek the company of people who speak a foreign language, wear native attire, or practice their culture's customs. By nature, you might quiet certain outspoken people with your quick or clever thinking. Perhaps you rely on facts and reason to support your ideas. Sometimes individuals choose to submit to whatever you tell them to do. This partially explains why only a few of them attempt to resist or ignore your orders. Maybe your mental agility overpowers some people who like to take charge. Chances are good that you may toughen up or fortify certain individuals by telling them how much you value their contributions, talents, knowledge, or skills. Instinctively, you sometimes sense you are a bit overzealous making a name for yourself, advancing your career, or promoting your projects. Perhaps you question your sense of priority when work, studies, or some other activity consumes the majority of your time. Perhaps you wonder if your zeal distresses or displeases certain individuals. It’s very likely that you may see particular value in the proverb "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." Instead of choosing the easy and obvious path, you might challenge yourself to surpass your original goals. With courage and perseverance, you attempt to produce good results. Rather than ask for guarantees of success or financial rewards, you might choose to boldly forge ahead toward your desired goals.
